When you don't feel ENOUGH (EN)

I actually did a devotional similar to this topic a month or two ago. My parents are the youth pastors at our church, so during quarantine the youth got together using Zoom. A different person would give a 5-10 min devotional everyday about whatever God put in their hearts. This topic is really seen now-a-days more than in the past. Everyone wants to fit in and in doing so, they forget who they really are. I pray that this post helps you get through this battle.

I separated this teaching in 4 parts, in order to get a better understanding of each section.

1. When you don’t feel SMART enough

Whether you are still in school or now an adult, the feeling of not being smart enough is hard to shake off. Some people have to deal with others telling them things like “You are useless,” “You won’t amount to anything,” or just plain “You are dumb.” My mom always has a verse for every situation, one of the verses she always tells me is 1 Corinthians 2:16. At the end of this verse it says “we have the mind of Christ.” What does this mean? It’s literally in the sentence. WE HAVE THE MIND OF CHRIST! I always repeat this saying whenever I'm feeling troubled, confused, or in need of some intelligence. So say it, but make it yours, say “I HAVE THE MIND OF CHRIST!”

2. When you don’t feel GOOD-LOOKING enough

I'm pretty sure everyone, myself included, has thought this about themselves at one point in their life. Our ever changing society has definitely changed our views on what is attractive to the viewers' eyes. People now view everything that they liked to be “out of style.” Society has taken its toll on showing us what is acceptable or unacceptable. For example, now everyone focuses on body shape to “truly” know if someone is attractive or not. This can lead to many feeling ugly, even taking them to the point where they want to change who they are. Ephesians 2:10 says, “For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.” and Genesis 1:27 says, “So God created mankind in his own image, in the image of God he created them; male and female he created them.” We are GOD’S CREATION… think about it. We were created in HIS image! We belong to HIM! Remember that God doesn’t see your appearance, but your heart. (1 Samuel 16:7)

3. When you don’t feel STRONG enough

Here I'm going to talk about spiritual strength. Sometimes there are moments where we are put into battles, where we are tempted and put to test. (https://hisinsideandout.wixsite.com/mysite-1/post/peace-in-the-storm) The devil might try to come and take everything you have, just remember who is with you. Job was a great man with family, wealth, and property. Furthermore, he was “blameless” and “upright”. (Job 1:1) God gave Satan permission to hurt everything he has, yet not Job himself. Satan truly knew that if he hurt Job, then he would turn his back on God. Even after Job lost everything, he still praised and loved God. Whenever you feel weak, or feel like losing faith, look at Isaiah 40:31. “But those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.” Whether you are going through a tough time, or just need more faith, turn to him.

4. When you don’t feel LOVED enough

Firstly, YOU ARE LOVED! Sometimes we seem to forget that the king of the world LOVES us! Think about it… while we were sinners, God sent his ONLY child to die on the cross, for you and me! (Romans 5:8) He loves you that much! Don’t let others tell you that you aren’t loved or that you aren’t important, because someone died for us. He sends angels to guard you, he chooses you every time, he makes sure you have everything you need, he fights for you, he is next to you every single day, HE LOVES YOU! 1 John 4:8 says, “God is Love,” believe it. You are treasured, you are important, you are valuable, YOU ARE LOVED!

What I want you to take from this is that you are ALWAYS ENOUGH! No matter what anyone else says and thinks, you are enough. The truth is that you don’t have to be enough for this world. “Even though we are in this world, we DON’T BELONG TO THIS WORLD!” God loves you just the way you are. You will always be enough, YOU ARE LOVED!

Don’t forget to smile,

Grace.
