1 Peter 3:15: “But in your hearts revere Christ as Lord. Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have. But do this with gentleness and respect."
In our society, there are 2 types of Christians…
Those who say and act as they believe
And those who say they believe but act differently
Some of you can say that they identify themselves with being believers from category 1, but for those who are having trouble, let me clarify in detail.
1. WHAT ARE YOU LISTENING TO : (based on music)
-There are 24 hours in a day, let's say that the common person sleeps 10 hours. We have 14 hours left. The common person listens to music for 6 hours. Now there are 8 hours left to eat, do homework, etc. Now out of those 6 hours, how many are spent listening to Christian music. 1 hour, 2, 3 or none.
When you listened to music with your friends, what kind of music did you listen to? If Christian music is not your first answer, there is a problem.
You can say "Not all worldly music involves cursing" or "Not all worldly music talks about inappropriate things." Okay, well BUT ...
Does it edify you?
Will that music help you grow your relationship with God?
If you answered NO, then you have to change!
2. WHAT DO YOU SAY:
-Since we were little, our parents taught us about the importance of taming our tongue. Those of us who were blessed to be born in a Christian crib, have learned from childhood not to curse or say anything offensive.
Society has changed drastically since there are some people who cannot say anything without cursing.
And you may not feel that your words matter, but those around you need words of love and encouragement, not the words they speak themselves.
Your words can help those people repent and surrender to God.
Take this into account…
Do your words,
Edify the people around you?
Will they help the relationship between them and God grow?
If you answered NO, then you have to make changes!
3. WHAT ARE YOU WATCHING:
-What we look at has a lot to do with how we act. YouTube videos, movies, even an advertisement on the internet, can change your perspective on what you think. Your thoughts must be different from those of people who do not believe. The people around you need people with different mentalities than them.
Again, does what you see:
Edify you and the people around you?
Help the relationship between you and God or others with God grow?
Remember, 1 Corinthians 10:23: “Everything is lawful for me, but not everything is convenient; Everything is lawful for me, but not everything edifies.”
We need to be the Light of the world and the Salt of the earth, this will not happen if we go with the flow. I encourage you to represent God at all times. Don't be ashamed or discouraged. Now that we are in quarantine, use the internet as an instrument to evangelize. (https://hisinsideandout.wixsite.com/mysite-1/post/using-the-internet-to-evangelize-en). Stay safe, God bless!
Don’t forget to smile,
Grace.
